Mount Arrowsmith, an iconic presence on not only Vancouver Island but in my life. Rising majestically like a sentinel of nature, its rugged silhouette cutting a striking figure against the canvas of the Pacific Northwest skyline.
Throughout my life, Mount Arrowsmith has remained as a sturdy backdrop to my island adventures. Standing as a constant guard over my summer home in Parksville.
Finding my peace in exploring the valleys that this mountain divides, the evergreen canopies pass and Arrowsmith’s cascades on my left side while I drive North on the Alberni highway up island, on my way to explore the inner forests to find solace. Remaining there as a guardian, I turn back south and drive until its golden peaks are ready to appear on my right hand side around the bend from Whiskey Creek at sunset.
As I curve the road up to Little Mountain, to catch the last few moments of the suns orange palette gracing Arrowsmiths’ face. It is in this spot where I can sit and admire the sloping and magnificent valley that is protected by this mountain, until I’m ready to head home.
